Our take
The hardware is the cheap part -- the subscription is the real cost, so buy it only if you'll keep the plan active year-round.
Pros
- +Live GPS tracking updates every 2-3 seconds with no distance limit thanks to cellular coverage
- +Virtual fence sends instant escape alerts, plus location history to see where your dog roams
- +Also monitors activity, sleep, and vital signs, flagging health changes before they're visible
Cons
- −Useless without the subscription (roughly $5-13/month), which costs more than the hardware over time
- −Battery lasts only 2-5 days with regular tracking, so it needs charging more often than a Fi collar
Best for: Owners of escape-artist dogs who want real-time location anywhere with cell coverage and don't mind a monthly subscription.
Alternatives to consider: Fi Series 3 Smart Dog Collar, Whistle Go Explore 2.0
