Our take
A safe buy — it undercuts most decent hardsides on weight, and there's no need to wait.
Pros
- +At 5.4 lbs it's one of the lightest full-size carry-ons sold, leaving more of your airline weight allowance for actual packing
- +Expands about 2 inches when zipped open, which genuinely saves you on the return trip when souvenirs happen
- +Travelpro is the brand flight crews actually use, and the limited lifetime coverage on this line is better than most sub-$150 luggage
Cons
- −Softside fabric offers little protection for fragile contents compared to a polycarbonate hardshell
- −No modern extras like a USB pass-through or compression system that newer competitors include at this price
Best for: Frequent domestic flyers who prioritize the lightest possible bag over hardshell protection.
Alternatives to consider: Samsonite Freeform Carry-On Hardside Spinner, American Tourister Stratum XLT 21" Hardside Spinner
